Well, mostly! We’ve got a car, which has been kindly loaned to the club by one of our members. It’s a convenient Vauxhall Zafira, a very versatile small MPV. We have insurance, a combination system to get into the car, and an online booking system. We’ve made a few trial journeys to test it out, and all seems good.
All that is left is for us initial members to get together, figure out our final pricing structure, battle out some ground rules, and we are off! We’ll be having our first meeting early next week so if you’re interested in joining asap, please let us know so that we can include you.
The car is great for journeys with lots of people or stuff; it has 5 regular seats plus 2 smaller seats in a third row in the back. It has a towbar, and there is a trailer that members are welcome to borrow, and we have roof racks, roof boxes, and other accessories which can be borrowed too. It has a little character in the form of a bit of a scrape down one side, but my wife informs me that this is really not a problem and it is a lovely car to drive.
With one car and almost 10 members, we’ll soon need a second car, and hope to purchase a small diesel car as soon as possible to give us all access to a economical and low emission car for journeys when there aren’t many passengers or things to carry.
