Use this calculator to figure out how much your private car costs, and how this compares to using HiCar. Our calculator is a spreadsheet that you must load into Excel. If you don’t have Excel, or the spreadshet doesn’t work for you, see below.
Using the calculator
Enter your details and details about your car in the top white boxes.
Take a look at the numbers at the top of the private car cost box and adjust the white areas if necessary.
Enter the journeys you make every month into the middle white boxes, together with the number of hours and days you are away for each journey (for a weekend when you are away for 2 days and 4 hours, enter ‘2′ into days and ‘4′ into hours). Do the same thing in the irregular journeys box at the bottom.
Note: The spreadsheet needs you to enter any long journeys (3+ days including a weekend) as ‘weekends’.
